Good call. The pictures are from the company website. I did not know where they were located. I just checked the site and it is Ogden, Utah.

I've been to Ogden, did some work out on the AFB on a Navigation and Weapons Delivery system back in the late 80's when I worked for Boeing. Beautiful country there!

I took my truck in to the dealer today to show them my cracking tailgate. They were shocked and unaware of the issue until I showed them the article printout from pickuptrucks.com and the pictures on this thread. They agreed that the tailgates should not be having this problem (and I think I could see the beginnings of a headache in the salesmanagers eyes!). They wrote up a service ticket and stated they would contact the regional rep to find out more information. They told me not to worry that they would take care of me. In the meantime they asked me to remove the tailgate when loading my ATV. When I get more information from them I will post it here. Stay tuned!

I see an issue in asking us to remove our tailgates for the purpose of loading our trucks. That sucks!

Tailgate Register

Tried to access the discussion page and get message that page is not available.

That said, I feel that even if there is no damage showing at present that Toyota should replace all tailgates with improved / stronger gates. Some of us have not loaded tailgates yet but plan to in the future. I have always used the tailgate for loading mowers, etc.
To suggest removing the tailgate from a truck so it can be used as a truck is absurd to say the least.

I have a meeting with a toyota rep on the 30th. They said I screwed myself by taking apart the gate cause they have nothing to inspect. I wil take the pieces, but I urge you all to get pics posted who haven't so I can go in with a binder full of potential problems. I figure I am not the Briliant type so "Blind em with bull$% it is".

Could one of the mods move any discussions in the picture thread over here. It would be better to keep that thread as pictures only. That way when someone asks a Toyota rep to look at the thread, it's pictures only since that is all they will want to see.

That's not the only thing I've carried, just the heaviest thing. I've moved an entire [small] house's worth of furniture, and at least 500lbs of camping crap on two trips (I would have gone again this weekend, but I was moving crap into my new house! )
