| What outside forces are they claiming? Are they saying you shouldn't have had the golf cart on there? Or are they denying the claim because you took the tailgate apart? A truck's tailgate should NOT have to be taken off to load anything. Maybe if it was like 1000+ pounds on the tailgate and failing. But 200 pounds max is crap. I could sit on the tailgate alone and exceed that limit.

| TOYOTA IS LISTENING i just droped off my truck to my dealer for a bedliner problem. and after talking to the sales manager last week in regards to the tail gate probs some have had and the flexing of my tail gate when I get on it and we know it will see attached jpg!! ![]() he handed me a letter from toyota corp that in a nutshell saya to all toyota dealers from toyota customer services it says that a Q&A statment has been issued to dealerships in regards to three problems 1. tail gate deformed after using ramp to load heavy items into bed 2. driving with tailgate in the open position. 3. tailgate not unlatching when pulling on release. that one looks to have a service bulletin for it ref TSB BO011-07 my scaner is down or i would scan it all and let you all see!! it does say at the bottom before the statment of the problems i.e GOLF carts and atv being loaded on tailgate (yep it says GOlf carts! are assesed on a case by case basis. it says that if the customer requires further assistance please direct them to toyota customer experience center 1800-331-4331. so if you want to see this doc from toyota call your dealer is should be in somebodys hands by now.

Someone would have to show me (ANYWHERE) where Toyota says the Tundra Tailgate is Not Meant to Support more then 200 Pounds!!! I weight 200 pounds! Heck I can’t get in the bed, via use of the Tundra Tailgate while carrying a box of Kleenex? Toyota has never said this before, but maybe Toyota is saying it now. Hmmmmm……..I think I need to spread the word. I think I will once this 200-Pound limit has been verified. Frank |

I was at SEMA all day today and talked to several Toyota Reps with Pics of the damage and of the same cart on my old Chevy, Rear wheels on the gate and everything. I also found 6 of 10 Tundras that I looked at that were being displayed by vendors had the cracks starting at the top sides. One of which sat next to the Diesel dualy they were displaying in the Factory booth. That is a cool truck . I showed the cracks to as many of the reps as would follow me around looking at Tundras but they only looked at 2 or 3 trucks before blowing me off and heading for the cover of thier booth.I also spent some time outside with my Rock Crawling buddies and there was a Prove it Tundra ride and drive out there. I looked at the gates of some of those trucks and 2 of the 5 were starting to show the cracking. These truck were new with no hauling ever in thier beds. I probly will not get anything from Toyota but I will certainly wave the red flag as high and long as I can. Hope it helps get some of you guys gates fixed or a recall or something. Wayne |

| Even if he does find something that should not deter you - because they should put a big old sticker on it if it is not be used normally. [That would kill sales and they know it] Just remind him that it is a TRUCK and it is being campaigned as a TRUCK and that is how tailgates get used. |

Needless to say, a tough truck does not/should not have wimpy tailgate issues. re.ac.tor

Good Idea on the certified weight. ![]() $600 is not worth getting a lawyer. It is enough to make me mad and hassle a few people at Toyota. Believe me they will know me and my golf cart before I give up .Just to make sure everyone knows where I stand. I still love my Tundra, I drove from SoCal to Vegas yesterday @ 0:dark thirty and walked the entire show. Shook hands kissed babies the whole sponsorship song and dance. Then got in the truck and drove back home. As I was driving still hot from the Tundra conversations I started to think. "Man it could be worse. I still drive the fastest easiest to drive most comfy truck I have ever owned". I'll continue to push because I really do believe there is a problem with the gate design. My painter called yesterday and the new gate is done ready to pick up and I can have a whole truck again. With gate improvements Just be careful with the taile gate. wAyne |
