| Some of you guys just happen to think that nothing can go wrong with your truck but not everything is perfect. Here are some pictures of the tailgate to show you that I do indeed have a manual and also a Tundra truck that by the way I do enjoy. |

| It sure is interesting that a school principal is the one that does not believe that I own a Tundra. (Typical educator does not believe anything.) I posted pictures of the tailgate but they were not allowed for some reason. As far as page 35 of the owners manual it tells you to see page 464 section 2 for precautions when loading luggage. I don't believe that an ATV or Golf cart is considered luggage. However page 463-465 never mentions how much weight a tailgate can hold. It only tells you how to compute the max. weight allowed in the truck bed after subtracting out the weight of the passengers. I am not slamming the Tundra just stating the facts. Toyota makes a great product I just feel that at least two of us have a tailgate that was not assembled the proper way. All brands have problems!! |

| We (me and friends) have messed up so many tailgates over the years hauling wheelers with the gates down that I wont haul one with the gate down anymore. If the wheeler doesn't fit in the bed with the gate closed I wont haul it, it goes on a trailer. Heres some pics of my wheeler in the bed, and I have had no problems loading it , I use Trifold aluminum ramps and havent seen any indicaton that I will have problems continuing to use it this way, other than scratched paint from the ramps, but I will be getting the bed sprayed this winter. Oh and I have loaded it quite a few times. I have about 1000 lbs in the bed in these pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| I think everyone needs to step back and take a deep breath here! Greymax I think the problem was there was a couple of folks that were stirring up trouble at the same time you came into this thread and some of the members misunderstood your intentions. We are trying very hard to make sure this site doesn't become a place where flaming people for speaking up is the norm. We would like this site to be a place where members can ask questions or voice their concerns with out having to worry about being ridiculed. No one including me thinks that the Tundra is perfect and we all know that stuff happens! So let me be the first to apologize for the misunderstanding and hope you can let this go also! So how about we all just remember what we want this site to be and and respect each others thoughts and concerns!

| Thank you, I have no problems just that some people think that everything is perfect. It is not as you can see. I have only driven my truck 200 miles since the purchase on Sat. So far I am very happy with it other than the tailgate issue. It also appears that Alaskacubs ATV is a 2001-2004 Honda Rubicon. The bike that I was loading was also a Rubicon only a 2006. I did not even finish puting the bike in the truck due to the tailgate bending as soon as the rear wheels reached the tailgate. Crap does happen however I feel that this particular tailgate had a flaw. |

| I agree 100%- some folks are downright ignorant when it comes to Toyota products. I'm one of the Tundra's harshest critics, so I understand where you are coming from. Welcome to the forum!

Did it permanently damage the tailgate? What kind of ramps where you using to load it? |
| |||
| Yes, the metal on the outer skin is ripped so the tailgate will have to be replaced. The ramps that I use are a double fold ramp with a 10 inch overhang approx. every foot. I have used this ramp on three other brands of trucks through the years and never had a problem. Like I say just one of those flaws. |
