Hey guys, we found the start of the same "tear" in the corner of Naut's tail gate similar to AK Cub's, and Naut told us he has only carried the couch and 3 guys in the truck/tailgate area.

I think we need a sticky thread/Register for just members with a tailgate issue so we can have an accurate picture of this problem and continue to use this thread for disussions.

I agree!

I agree, this is not just about those of us that haul our quads in the back of our trucks and have for years. I would say that having any substantial weight that is normally carried in the bed of a truck will affect it the same way. Its just a cheap design and clearly will not last.

NO SITTING WITH 2 MORE BUDDIES ON TAILGATE SIPPIN BEER!

WE SCALE OVER 680 LBS, WE USED TO DO THIS ON MY 99 F 150.

I WILL EXPLAIN TO THEM, AND THEY WILL LAUGH!

Here's the register http://www.toyotatundraforum.com/sha...html#post13196 so we'll be able to get a good idea of the # of people being effected and also a visual record of the problem. Feel free to give the link to Service reps, techs and anyone else that works for Toyota.

TTZ is here to help not only the members but also Toyota if we can!

Hey rarjar, after you left, we had a look at my tailgate too before they reinstalled it on my truck. Mine has a crack on one side just like Naut's tailgate did. The most I have had on my tailgate is three guys at one time, the heaviest guy being about 185 pounds (not me of course).

I'll see if I can get a good picture and post it. Kinda sucks since we just got the tailgates LineXed today.

Man that sucks Tox, I am glad as hell I havent had the bed sprayed yet. That was my next upgrade, looks like I'll be waiting to spray it. If I recall correctly didn't you have some fertilizer bags or something on the gate in a pic you posted a while back. Thats why I dont think its isolated to quads its any weight on the gate. I would bet loading my 500 lb quad which the weight is pretty dispersed by the tri-fold ramps isn't near as damaging as say having 200 lbs resting on the gate while driving around.

No, I had 720 pounds of asphalt in the bed of the truck, not on the tailgate. There was never more than two of those 60 pound bags on the tailgate at any time. Look in the truck of the month link in my signature and you will see the load in the bed and only the dog on the tailgate.

I can take some better pictures tomorrow in the sun if those above aren't clear enough.
