Cool, I'll ask the dealer to turn it on tomorrow during my 10k check and change. I'll post on Monday what they say/charge. Thanks for the info!

Print out pages 10-17 of the instructions and take that with you. That way if they say they don't know how, you can "help" them. Good luck.

So, my wife took my truck in this AM and they said that they will activate the alarm. Afterwards, they said that they couldn't do it as my truck doesn't have it. I have the 5.7L and keyless (remote) entry system from the factory. Are they pulling something?

I forgot to mention that she said that she handed them the pages (10-17) that I printed off from this web site, so they had that to reference...

Both Sparks Toyota (after checking with the Toyota rep for their area) and my Lexus tech buddy confirmed it is present. We activated on my truck while I stood there watching over his shoulder. Your panic button does the same thing the alarm does...flash the light and sound the horn. Does your panic button work? If so they may not want to do it or are unaware. You would think looking at the instructions would help. I bet if you asked them to order and install the alarm they would figure it out quick and charge you for the "install and parts".

This is good to know. I was worried that I would have to have the GBS ECU to even activate the alarm. I'll take mine in next week sometime to get it activated!

My truck is going in for the tranny tomorrow - i'll throw a 50$ under the floor mat and hand the pages to the service manager tomorrow and tell him if he can make this happen, he might find a gift in the truck hehe.

So have we confirmed that you can indeed get the alarm activated on V8 keyless models without the GBS installed? I would like to know for sure so I have ammo and the instructions and so I don't get screwed over...It looks like it should be quoted a 15 min job to change over (I'm sure it only takes 5 mins...)

Well, they must either not know or don't want to turn it on with me paying full price. My panic button works, so I can only assume they misunderstood my wife or didn't want to activate it. I'll give them a call sooner or later to try again, maybe even call another dealer in town.

I just got back from the dealer. They said "We looked at your directions (per GBS install) and it looks like it can be done, but we can't do it.". ????ers. They want me to come back next week to see if they can do it. I think I'll just take the truck down to Kokomo and have my friends do it...
