| Official wishlist for the 08 Tundra I know some are still waiting for their trucks and others are still getting to know their baby but it's never too early to start a wishlist for the 08 Tundra. Ya never know who may be lurking out there.

| I would like to see memory seats(captains chairs), and adjustable pedals. I rally miss the memory seats I had in my Titans, and being able to adjust the pedals was a nice feature, although I only adjusted the pedals once, it was nice to get the pedals just where you want them. I also miss the lights in my tailgate, they come in handy on early mornings on the ranch and when camping and fishing.

| lol, what i mean is that if you take out "small" and "economical", you have some possibilities. what your left with is soon to come on the Tundra I believe......a diesel with at least 450ft/tq. but small? I don't think so, and economical? no way! Diesel is pretty expensive anymore, Mileage ain't THAT much better, and usually another 5 grand for the powerhouse diesel motors. doesn't crunch out. I think for awhile we are stuck with $3 a gallon and 10mpg towing with gasoline for "economical". |

| Direct Cylinder Fuel Injection The Camry and and LS460 enjoy a 10 to 15 % milage increase due the high pressure direct cylinder injection, why not the Tundra? Another benefit it also boosts power up to 15%, since higher compression can be run. The 6-cylinder 2008 Porsche Cayenne went from 247 HP to 290 HP and is up to a 12.3 : 1 compression ratio for what is expected to be a substantial milage improvement (figures not in yet) This Porsche at $ 43,000.00 was my 1st choice but I did not want to wait since I could lease the Tundra now right off the lot no waiting. |

| This may be a good idea that would be better than a boat anchor Big-3 type diesel Quote:
In Europe it currently has 458 lb.ft. of torque and 278 HP and is much lighter than the Cast Iron Diesels in the current US 3/4 ton trucks. This motor has proven to get 40% better gas mileage than the most tech advanced gas motors that BMW makes. I was very pleased in my recent 2000 mile round trip with the handling on high speed curves of the Pensylvanian mountains, and would not want an additional 300 to 400 lbs on the front end to destroy the excellent balance Toyota has achieved with this truck. Based on the technology in this BMW diesel (or the Bluetech Mercedes 3.2 L), if Toyota adopts a similar design, I would expect 20 to 30% lower fuel costs for Tundra owners (23 to 26 mpg). These type of diesels carry a very small price premium over the European high tech gas motors ($ 2,000.00 +/-) I would expect that a diesel would actually cost less than the highly developed 5.7 that is actually based on the $ 90,000.00 LS460 new Lexus motor design (intelligent variable intake and exhaust cam operation, good expensive stuff). Not to mention the sleaved aluminum block, coated forged pistons that allow 400 lbs of torque using only 0-20W oil! Note: the big-3 have very low tech gas motors (cheap to build + no development costs), and most of the $ 5,000.00 to $ 7,000.00 upcharge on thier diesels is profit. The wild card in all this untapped potential is upcoming US regulations further reducing Nitogen oxides emissions, it likely is the reason that Toyota is in a holding pattern on pulling the trigger on developing a class leading diesel design to put in the Tundra. I hope they have something in 3-years when my lease is up. |

| Bertram I agree with most of what you said. However, the GM/Isuzu motor is all alumimum as is the Ford 6.4L. I think I don't think any of the new big 3 motors 6.4/6.6/6.7 diesel engines are low tech anymore. They can't be or they will not meet emissions. Around here diesel is about 15% higher on average than 87 octane gas. Diesel can get about 30% better economy than a gas powered engine so eventually it will be a wash. It just takes a while. To me the real benefit is the fuel savings while towing my trailer and the torque to do it without down shifting. |
