| Get a lawyer to fix this, know your rights and take care of it right from beginning. They have insurance AND YOU HAVE insurance and will take care of it, but your lawyer should know proper procedure and who to go after first for responsibility. Don't talk to them, let lawyer who is experienced at this do it from beginning to end.Don't stress yourself by going it at it alone unless you are a lawyer with experience at this type of work. You may need to pay something, but someone else will pay more: money, loss of business, loss of reputation, etc., etc, it goes on. |

| Since it's not your fault, try to get a lawyer and have your ins co pay for the service. Your rate should not rise for that. On the bright side, if you don't sign anything when you drop your vehicle at that place for oil changes, you now know where to get free oil changes in the future! |

| I would not bluff, because that can give him lead way to get his lawyer involved and it may hurt your case. I would do as the others said, get a lawyer immediately!! As soon as the shop creates a work order to do work on your vehicle they are liable by law for your vehicle. No matter what signs they have hanging on their walls. They have insurance that mandates them to cover any vehicle in their shop and under their care. If they do not have insurance, then you nail their butts to the wall for everything you can and make sure they are shut down. I would also contact the BBB about this as well. |

| Did you get a lawyer yet?

| My insurance will handle the claim. They wrote and believe the shop is responsible, asked me if I want to include my deductable in the suit but have cautioned that i might not get all the deductable back. I am considering small claims court for my deductable and misc expenses. I will let them deal with the 8.5k damage to truck, left front fender all the way to back bumper sideswiped. They didn't steal a thing from inside or toolbox. Cops said they watched them ride all day and nite, didn't want to chase, feared they would do more damage in chase. Sure do feel safe living in Savannah, Ga. Thank God I took laptop and what ever was in the drivers side door panel out so I wouldn't have to worry about that at oil change shop. Can't imagine how much of a problem that would have been for me. I wonder if the cops would have chased them knowing that was in the truck? |

| What kind of Police force is that? Who cares about damage? If it were my truck, I would want the perpetrators apprehended and brought to justice. Maybe some LEOs can chime in here, but this statement from the Police sounds ridiculous to me.

I don't know if you've noticed, but chases are very dangerous. If someone is running from the police, it's because they don't want to stop, and the only way to make them stop is to wreck the vehicle (either by them crashing or being taken out). How would you like to be t-boned by a fleeing Tundra when driving through an intersection? Just as bad, many of the officers driving around are no safer driving at very high speeds than the person fleeing. So the departmental "no chase" policy is also to protect the PD from an officer screwing up and causing a wreck and being held liable. EDIT: Isn't you son-in-law a trooper?
