my '07 does that too. I ran it pretty far with the yellow light on a few days ago, couldn't find a gas station...anyway I filled up and barely got 21 gallons in there. The needle was a hair past the 'E', not sure either why it comes on early. I know for a fact there was at least 3-4 gallons in there before I filled up, just don't like running it on empty...maybe its a safety feature?

Yep, these trucks are designed to have a large fuel reserve to protect the submersible/wet fuel pump, so yes that's normal for this truck. I filled up twice this weekend within 10 miles after the low fuel light came on and both times it took right at 20 gallons.

Me too...it took right around 19-20 gallons. So does this mean that when the light comes on...we have roughly 6 gallons to drive until we're "out"?

Yes, that is correct. Remember that when pulling a heavy load, the truck might be getting 8mpg. So a 6 gallon reserve might be just enough to get you to the next gas station if you ignored your gas gauge until the light came on.

I've driven 50 miles after my trip computer showed zero miles left.
Any questions about truck mods I have done need to be asked in the forums. Don't send me a private message about mods cause I probably won't answer that PM unless there is money involved.

Same here - I usually get 325 - 375 miles out of a tank. The fuel light usually comes on at around 300 miles though.
