i have a question - I noticed from the photo's the bed has a liner -- I have the LINE-X and i am sure it adds strength to the tailgate... do u think so ?
as i mentioned - ATV suzuki Vinson 4x4 500CC - no problem yet !!

I am not sure how much strength if any Line X would add. Seeing how the gate is constructed I will be very careful how I load it from now on. It is not nearly as heavily built as the GM trucks in our fleet. I cut a piece of 3/4" ply and bed lined it for future loading of the tail gate.

Oh the new gate was $618.37 unpainted.

good thing I know a good painter.

I also have a tailgate problem. I purchased a Crewmax Limited on Sat. and attempted to put a 600lb quad in the back and had the tailgate do the same thing on the top edges. Less that 14 hours old. I have also had a Ford and have loaded it many time with no problems.

Interesting that we now hae two ferd owners here on the same thread. You boys won't be allowed to play here much longer at this rate so I suggest you head back over to
FordF150.net - Your Ford F150 Trucks Enthusiast Site - 2008 2009 Ford F150 Super Duty Ranger
F-150 Online - Ford F150 Enthusiast Community For 1997 - 2008 F150, Lightning, Supercrew, Expedition Pickup Trucks
Ford Truck Enthusiasts, 1948-2008 Ford F150, Super Duty & SUV owners community and information source. Covers F100, F-150, F250, Bronco, Ranger, Explorer, Expedition, Lighting, Escape and More
Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans

By the way it looks like some of those owners are in desperate need of Electricians and or Fire Fighters.

I have never been very brand Loyal I buy what I like the best. I have a couple Fords, 3 Toyotas, a really cool Dodge Magnum, 7 Chevys in the work fleet, 2 Suzuki Samurais and 2 Jeeps. All have their use good and bad points. But I went down to buy a Dodge Mega cab, drove every full size pickem up availible and Drove home in the most fun, easiest to drive full size truck I have ever owned. I love my Tundra it has been having a rough go of late. Picked up a nice golf ball size rock off the 15 freeway today and now need a windsheild.

I got rid of the Ford for a reason and that reason was to purchase a nicer vehicle. I have owned Toyotas in the past and currently own a Lexus also and I am very happy with it. I am not unhappy with the new Toyota just a little dissapointed in that the tailgate may have a small problem. By the way I am meeting with the Toyota rep next week to see what they can do about the problem because they claim that this should not of happened. Would Ford or GM even talked to me?

Is there a warning in the owners manual about loading and the tailgate?
