Want a DVD rear entertainment center

Just purchased a 2008 crewmax 4X4. It had everything I wanted except....the rear dvd entertainment pkg.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what a good aftermarket one would be. Also, which is best mounted ont the ceiling or the screens in the head rest.

Thanks

I think head rest ones are better just so they don't block the mirror. If there is just two passengers, then they just look straight ahead to see the screen. And they can also be set up to have different things playing on each screen. So one person (or kid) can be watching a DVD while the other plays on a game console.

Hey,
We have the same truck!! I ordered it that way because toyotas dvd system.....well..... is sub par sorry. I installed the alpine roof mounted system in my truck and I/my kids love it !! I find the less choices for my two boys the better I put in one movie and if they dont like it then It's my rock station!! LOL. So I didnt go with the headrest choice. what ever way you decide alpine is one of the top names in car audio. Can give you model # etc. if interested but is top of the line lcd etc.

Hey Selby,

I too would like some info on your DVD system. Model number, and cost of unit? You said you installed it yourself? I looked at the sparks Toyota site and they had a pdf of a DVD install....Looked pretty nasty to me. Cutting the headliner and all. But then again I have never installed a security system, radio, DVD before.

If you want pics of a good install.....go to the sparks Toyota site and clic item you are interested in and the pdf file is on the side towards the top of the page.......

I had Circuit City install a Jensen unit in my 06 Sienna for 550.00 total and it may be less now. I had it hard wired with a switch in the glove box so that I had the option of using the van speakers and it came with two wireless headphones. My kids love it and it has been trouble free. I am very satisfied with it and the install was fast and professional. Give them a call about your Tundra.

Slbri,
Will get model # and some pix also in a day or so, price was about $1400 total installed (was profesionally done) and that included the Sirius satalite system, antenna mounting etc. etc. This model allowes you to (or kids) listen to movies in stero through the trucks speakers or includes wireless headphones if you/they prefer, also is all done just by turning headphones on or off, no switches or "modes" etc. very user friendly!! I highly recomend it. Like I mentioned earlier is top of line alpine lcd unit so theres many more choices that are less money.

I just installed a Pioneer Avic Z2 with head rest screens, I LOVE it. My wife can watch the front screen and the babies can watch the back screens (3 screens total). I did all of the work and am going to post pics if I can figure out how.

Ceiling DVD Mount

Does anyone have '07 or '08 Double Cab with the ceiling mounted DVD? I am concerned it will be too far back based on the install photos I have seen on Sparks Toyota (SC.) web site.

Thanks!!!
