I think it is there to help you see down there at night. or it would be a mood light?

Agree with the others... helps you see cupholders better at night, at least that's what I was told by my salesman. Seems to make sense to me.

I was wondering the same thing. I dont think it helps any. But I could be wrong. Ive got a screen lighting up my cab at night. Without that, it might help

In my brochure, it says that the light is for illuminating the ash tray.

Thanks all ..

I dont think it helps at all .. That light needs another light to see it =/

I was thinking it might be a joke from the designer for us to struggle and try to figure out whats it for ..

What I benfited from this subject is the spelling of the Ash tray =) ... I was like "ashtree" .. someone might think I was refering to a tree that was burned badly lol

This is what you get when English is not your first language ..
This is how we write ashtray in Arabic "طفاية" .. for the record

Thanks all again ..

My Arabic is non-existent.

If you get the auto-dimming rear mirror, then there is supposed to be additional LEDs in it that point down and illuminate the center console a little more. Maybe that is the additional light needed.
