New with 10000 miles

Just brought my Tundra DC Lmtd 5.7 for it's 10000 miles. Surprised to learn it hold 8 auarts of oil and has a special oil filter set up. Unrelated question: Does the center console gear shift lever indicators ie: P-R-N-D etc. light up at night. Mine never has, but the more I look at it, it would seem they should illuminate at night?

Anyhow, really enjoy the site. Keep up the great work

Mike

Needs illumination .....

Hi,
I have an '08 crewmax limited. I've noticed that a lot of things are not illuminated at night: all the controls on the door armrest, the mirror controls on the dash, and the shift lever in the console. It's painful, but I'm getting used to it. Still haven't figured out how to turn the puddle lamps on.

Congrats on the truck.

I'm not really sure if the gear letters next to the shifter light up or not. Putting it into gear is a common task for me now so I never look down to change gears.

Appreciate the feed back. Now I know my turck is perfect.
They really should have lite up at the very least, the drivers window control, I can't tell you how many time I dropped the rear window when trying to lower the front.
How about filling up the gas tank. Mine tell me by low llight that I had better fill up, however, I never get more then 22 gallons in. Distant to drive will state 18 miles to go. No big thing, you would think it would be more accurate?

Everyone has seen same thing re-tread. The reserve, once the low fuel light comes on, seems to be 4-5 gallons for everyone. May have something to do with the truck having a "wet" fuel pump in the gas tank and Yoda's attempt to ensure it stays wet and lubricated, thus preventing damage to the pump. Most have also seen the distance to empty errors, although I think Toxarch reported that as the truck "learns" your driving habits, the distance to empty seems to get a little more accurate over time.

my shift lever indicator DOES light up. I just noticed it tonight and thought of this thread.

My center console also lights up. So does my drivers side window switch, the "Auto" part of the switch is illuminated in orange color.

Understand the problem

The gear shift (Center Console) does light up at night. However, the dash lights have to be adjusted to be bright for this to happen. Thought you'd like to know..

I looked at mine. The center console shift does light up, but I do not have a light at the door switches. I thought there used to be a light there.
