| Problems with stereo system Hey... I bought a new 2008 Tundra 4x4, Reg Cab just under a month ago, and the factory stereo system has failed 4 times already. It has been replaced 2 times already, and I am waiting for a new unit for a third replacement. Needless to say, I am far from impressed. Has anybody experienced a similar issue? Any suggestion? | ya i just had a new one put in today, my last one would get the volume stuck at 1 setting and show a bunch of gibberish on the screen. Either my dealership is really nice or its a known defect since they didnt even question me or look at the radio. It came and went so it would have been frustrating trying to get proof to them. |

| Same problems...My stock stereo would either: 1) Problem: Turn off by itself. Solution: Hit button... If no response hit button harder... if no response harder yet...eventually it would turn on. 2) Problem: Show gibberish on the screen. Solution: See solution in problem 1, otherwise turn truck on and then off. 3) Problem: Volume stuck at one setting. Solution: Press the side of the volume button from the left side and turn nob at the same time. If this did not work, then try pushing the side of the volume button at different angles while turning the nob. This was the most frequent problem I had and I got pretty good at getting the volume to respond again. At any rate, I'm not into having to go back to dealer if I don't need to (I have better things to do). With the exception of the screen going haywire, most of the problems noted above were a nuisance but manageable. Besides, I was intending on replacing the stereo anyhow, so I willing to deal with a bad stereo until it got my new HU in the mail. Unfortunately it seems that this is a common problem with the toyota stereos. |
