That said, I did learn to drive in snow in an RX7, so my inclement weather skills are going to be above average. I normally leave the truck in 2wd, unless I want to do some four-wheel drifting when the white stuff starts falling.

Hmmm, I'm considering a 2wd for WI with our winters. Yes I'd prefer a 4X4, but if you handled those snow falls in 2wd. I'm thinking I'd just throw 500 lbs of sand in the back to help with traction. I learned to drive in rear wheel drive cars and didn't have any issues when I was younger. I drove a Nizzan Z in the winter one year, and it was a mess. I probably should have died. But that didn't have the right rubber on it.

Yikes, how many snowfalls do you guys get up there? Living in WI I'd probably opt for 4wd.

well, last year was the snowiest winter for over 100 years. We got 87.4". It sucked. I had a new Hyundai Elantra and needed winter tires. Almost got stuck on my street. But the winter tires made a huge difference.

I know I should go with the 4x4, but then I might be able to afford a 2007 or newer Tundra. I've seen a few 2007 right in my price range with 30k miles on them but they are 2wd. Still undecided on it. Dealer said they might be able to find one for me with 4wd in my price range, but I'm guessing the milage will be up there.

Buying a 2wd in the fall or winter and you are going to get the best deal. sort of like buying a convertible. I have a 2wd myself

Welcome to the forum Captain Bonehead from Central TX!!

My last Tundra was 4x4 but, only got to drive it in the snow once - handled it well but, it was not like the snow you are talking about, LOL!

It's above average for sure. Decided to dig out the Yamaha and start riding it to work. It's sat since May.

TRUCK is awesome....custom grille-tonneau cover-oem side bars-console shifter..it looks like no one ever drove it...undercarriage has all the sticker still on it no dirt..
Going to upstate New Hampshire this weekend....they already had 2 snow storms 3-4 inches each...but it melted. I will find out soon, how it handles...
