Nissan Considering Ending Titan Production

As a former Titan owner(2 Titans), I am not surprised at this turn of events.

I read that as well...... It is a shame. Nissan never marketed the truck properly. They just put it out there and let it sell itself. In the US, you have to sell, sell, sell.

On another note, I read that Toyota is issuing a recall for the Tundra for drive shaft problems. They don't seem to be able to get it right either. What is the big mystery in building a pickup?

The drive line issue is a little odd. Toyota says they have had one reported failure, yet they are recalling some 15k Tundras. It looks like Toyota is being extra cautious and very proactive, to boost or keep consumer confidence at a high level.
If Nissan acted the same way as Toyota, Nissan would have issued a recall on the front axle(c-clip), transfer case, rear diff, axle seals, etc.

Couldn't agree more. As I said, what's the big mystery in building a pickup truck? Neither brand should be having the types of problems they are experiencing. If you need information, simply buy one of the competitors and disassemble the thing! Learn from your competition! DUH!

Me either...In fact, I started thinking about whether or not Toyota will stay in the race. I just cant see why they literally prodded the big three as they did with the confrontational advertising unless they plan on staying for the long haul, no matter what. If they dont, they'll loose face with their customer base - affecting sales across all models.

If they (Nissan) does pull the plug, it will be tough on them and the truck market will loose another motivator - competition=progress by motivation.

On a positive side, this could be good info for investors to buy loss options, LOL.

On the Toyota drive line - I think its a cover for a different issue - a design change affoot, but just my opinion.
They cant copy existing patented designs. BTW, there are more auto design patents then any other kind by an incredible magnatude.

That is true, they can't legally copy patented designs, BUT, they can see how they work and make their own work............ Neither of these companies is a newbie start up. They are as big, and experienced as any of the Big 3. To have such quality problems is intolerable. In fact I just canceled my new 08 Titan order. Will I buy a Tundra? Maybe next year if they can get it together.
WAKE UP TOYOTA! Don't make me have to go to the Big 3!

The last place I'd go is BACK to the BIG 3. Been there, done that, a bunch of times and they still can't learn from their mistakes.

I'm not sure what you are saying here Ol'coot. I have always been a GM guy until I bought my new Tundra. My last three GM vehicles two of which were trucks were complete junk. I hope Toyota doesnt rip apart a GM truck and follow the blue prints. If this happens I will have to buy that new Indian Mahindra pickup.

I'm not trying to start a war, just ranting about initial design and poor quality control in manufacturing. A company can blame defects on suppliers all they want, but it is their job to insure that the sub contractors comply with specs. That goes for any company, Nissan, Toyota, Ford, GM, GE, etc etc.
I got away from the "Big 3" for the very same reasons that we are now seeing in the imports. Defects, quality problems and lame excuses......... We all spend our hard earned dollars for products and have every right to expect the thing to work right from the box.
Thanks for putting up with the rant.

Weren't they the ones saying that they were going to offer a sub $5000 car in the US in a couple of years?

When I was in India on vacation, Mahindra has a vehicle that looked like a CJ7, (exact same front end) and had a diesel engine in them. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that in the driveway for hunting trips.
