Ford posts $8.7 billion loss

Ford posts $8.7 billion loss on asset write-downs - Yahoo! News

Looks like they will be doing a pretty big switch to smaller vehicles in the US.

By the way, who thinks up these names?

Nah, they are bringing back the Pinto. They are trying to get the same crash results as the first model before releasing it.

Remember the Pinto? I used to see them as a kid and dad used to talk about Ford saving money on the car by cutting safety. Ford said it was better to pocket $49 million (after lawsuits) by not adding the correction to the car ($139 million in cost) and calculated the average human life was worth $200K.

Hey Tox... easy now... I had to drive one of these for a year or so when I was much, much younger. However, I always wore a ski mask because I didn't want anybody recognizing me driving the POS, lol!!!

In high school I always laughed at this vehicle. I mean who wants to drive a car named after a tool that a proctologist uses??

Ah yes, the Pinto, they always reminded me of the AMC Pacer.

I always thought that a tricked out Pacer Station Wagon would be a lot of fun.

If Ford brings back the Pinto - then GM will need to resurrect the Vega name, LOL.

PINTO

I wouldn't be too thrilled about driving around a vehicle name after a type of bean either.

Speaking of vehicle names, I was having a conversation w/ a fellow Tundra owner.... We chuckled over the fact that there is NOTHING remotely close to "tundra" in our area.... Are there even an "TUNDRAS" in the continental United States?
