I am going with some car buddies of mine. Pricy entry ($80. for a catalog and two tickets) but when will you see these car again. They will be going into private collections, most likely.
I wonder if the younger guys know these cars like the 50 year old guys do?
Hot Rod Mag and the then "NEW" release HotWheel cars were all about these creations.
If any one else is going I'll see you at the non-bidding bidder's bar.

The auction was last weekend. All car were sold No Reserve. I could not go to the auction but went to the preview the day before. These cars were in such great shape it made the hair on my back stand up.
1965 Dodge Deora Concept Car sold for $324,500.
Little red wagon went for over 1/2 a mil.
Boot Hill Express was a work of art and sold for only $126,500
The odd sale to me is the two General Lee's ( Dukes of Hazard ) one that was a Jump car that rolled ( stripped of engine and stored outside for 20 years) sold for over 1/2 of one that is a very nice clean driver???
This to me was the coolest bunch of cars to be sold at one auction that I ever heard of. It is worth looking at the list (with pictures) and see if you see any car you use to have in HotWheel form.

That car and the other race cars were a bit of a let down to me. I was always amazed years ago with the detailed paint job on the cars. It wasn't necessary but they airbrushed the headlights in so well that you were not able to tell until you got with in 5 ft. and the finish was like glass. With these race cars they were actually all that is needed but the lights were done with prints that were taped in place as well as some bug screens on the nose and such attached with color correct duct tape. The overall paint job could be done with the basic "Earl Scheib" $99. paint job.
I guess times are hard for all of us even the Auto Sports Industry.
