Finally got on the site to apply for health care insurance. After entering all my information, it asked me to review the information. There were many things wrong with it. For example...I entered that I am married, but the site recorded that I am not married. I entered my annual income, and the site recorded it as my wifes income.
I logged off without finishing. I'll have to try again later to see if they can get it right.

I just found out some very disturbing news, it appears that anyone who signs up for Osama Care will be treated as a second class citizen.
Here is the thing. I have two options for insurers, (actually have 3 choices but the third ones closest hospital is nearly 200 miles away, so that one is out), Blue Cross or Blue Shield. If you sign up for an Osama Care policy, Blue Cross will only make available 60% of their doctors and 95% of their hospitals. Blue Shield will only make 50% of their doctors and 75% of their hospitals available.
With the massive increase of patients in the system, the chances of finding a doctor or hospital that you want and is in your area just dropped considerably and you will probably have to wait, this is called rationing.
If I want to have 100% of the doctors and hospitals available I will have to pay 87% more, at least in annual premiums. Which means I will pay more than I am paying now, but I will not be in Osama Care, I will just have the regular pre- Osama Care policy, that has no rationing.
Of course, neither Blue Cross or Blue Shield can tell me what hospitals or doctors will be available under Osama Care and the hospitals I called can't tell me either.
Blue Cross/Blue Shield said that in a month or two they will have a list.
So I am stymied, I have the forms all filled out, but can't send them in to enroll until I know what I am getting into. I will probably have to bite the bullet and pay more than $1000/month rather than the $52-69/month to insure that I can see a doctor in a timely fashion in the hospital I want.
The more I learn about Osama Care, the less I like it.....surprise, surprise.

Obamacare's Website Is Crashing Because It Doesn't Want You To Know How Costly Its Plans Are - Forbes
A growing consensus of IT experts, outside and inside the government, have figured out a principal reason why the website for Obamacare’s federally-sponsored insurance exchange is crashing. Healthcare.gov forces you to create an account and enter detailed personal information before you can start shopping. This, in turn, creates a massive traffic bottleneck, as the government verifies your information and decides whether or not you’re eligible for subsidies. HHS bureaucrats knew this would make the website run more slowly. But they were more afraid that letting people see the underlying cost of Obamacare’s insurance plans would scare people away.

Interesting article, but it doesn't implicate the President, nor the affordable care act in the "treating people who sign up, as second class cititzens". It does say that Covered California will not allow all of it's doctors and all of it's hospitals to see patients who get their insurance through the newly created healthcare exchange, and that the Executive Director of Covered California seems to be downplaying this. But that is being decided and done by Covered California...not the President, nor ObamaCare.

But for folks like me, who have been turned down when trying to buy healthcare insurance due to pre existing conditions like my age, asthma, arthritis, gerd and gout, we're just glad to finally be able to buy healthcare insurance...and we really don't care which doctor we get to see at this point. Just being able to see a doctor at all, feels like a step in the right direction for us.

I know you said earlier that you didn't think you'd be able to keep your current healthcare insurance, as we were led to believe by listening to the Presidents speeches, and THAT is something I'd be looking into if I were in your shoes. If you like what you currently have, you should be able to keep it. Is it your current insurance company that is removing that option for you?

Certainly this Affordable healthcare act isn't a perfect solution for everyone...but I for one, hope that it will evolve into something that works really well, for those that have to use it (like me).

Covered California is Osama care, there is no way to say that it isn't. CoveredCa is just California's version. If CoveredCA is not Osama Care, why is the Federal Government paying the subsidy and the IRS administering the program.CoveredCA is just one of the 30 or so State exchanges operating under the Osama care umbrella. It is not CoveredCA that is restricting the # of Doctors or hospitals , it is Blue Shield/Blue Cross. Each of the insurance companies operating in California under CoveredCA/Osama Care has their version of restrictions.
My insurance company is stopping all health insurance policies in every state they operate in, they will just offer policies such as home, auto, life etc.

My current health insurance is grandfathered, so it has to offer the following. This is from the Osama care web site
    "
    • ObamaCare's new benefits, rights and protections also include the requirement that all non-grandfathered health insurance plans cover preventive services and provide new Essential Health Benefits.

    • Ten Essential Health Benefits including emergency care, hospitalization, prescription drugs, maternity, and newborn care must be included on all non-grandfathered plans with no annual or lifetime dollar limits.

    • Preventive services including yearly check-ups, immunizations, counseling, and screenings must be included on all non-grandfathered plans at no out-of-pocket costs."
My current plan fails on the preventive services, maternity, drugs, immunizations, screening, check ups,and life time $ limits, in other words nearly everything, and I have no problem with that, but the Govt. does.
It looks to me, that the only plans that are grandfathered are those offered by unions(and not all unions), and those that already meet or exceed the standards mentioned above.
It doesn't do me much good to have an great insurance policy if I have to stand in line and wait for a doctor and or hospital to have an opening.I demand health care when I need it(like I have now) and am willing to pay for it.
If I decide that I would rather pay for all health care my self (ie. cash), I should be able to without be fined by the IRS.
I hope things shake out in the coming months and questions can be answered.
One thing for sure, every state is different, for example, in California, if your income is at or below the poverty level, you will automatically be shoved into Medical, which worse option yet.
It looks like the states that opted out of the health care exchanges, have some better options, but it depends upon you individual situation.
