| New Starter?? 2001 Tundra SR5 2wd with 69K miles. Weather got into the 30's here in Florida and had difficulty starting. Eventhough the indicator light on the old(original) battery was still green after 6 1/2 years, I changed the battery anyway figuring it was just weak and about time. When the temperature got back down to the 30's, it had a hard time starting again. Just clicked a few times like before and then started on a second try. Does anyone know if the cold will affect the starter or something else?? |

| Thanks for the response. I have already checdked the cables and everything looks good. The battery is brand new and has higher cranking amps than the original battery. I just hate to put a starter in if it could be anything else. |

| wow let us know if the starter is the prob and if so what starter brand did you find to replace?

| Old farmer trick....climb under the truck and smack the starter with a hammer! Works most of the time. If it doesn't work hit it hard enough you have to go buy a new starter. |

| Not sure but I believe the Tundra starter is located top side under the intake. If wrong someone correct me.

| Yes the starters on the passenger side of the engine stuck under the manafold I know cause I just had mine replaced with 15,800mi.I had to have someone turn the key to start while I did the farmers trick hitting the starter with a hammer and a long punch to get it running so I could get to the dealer.I was under warrenty wonder what that R@R would have cost if not.The dealer said the new starter came with four pages of things to remove including the manafold.Under the truck you have a area about the size of a softball to get to the starter.
