| Power Steering Pressure Switch????? Well I had another casualty due to our lovely -56C weather. I went to start my truck this past Saturday, although it didn't like it much, it started no problem. As soon as it fired the check engine light came on. I tried a hard reset but the light came on again, so I went to our local garage (no Toyota Service Dept here in no mans land...lol) where he hooked up a code reader. It spit out the code for power steering pressure switch overpressure. We tried to reset the code but it is apparrently a hard code that can not be reset. So a phone call to the dealership I bought the truck from and voila....new switch on the way. I am definitely not complaining as I was able to drive my truck to work while those poor Chevy and Dodge owners had to walk (evil laugh). So this is another one for anybody living in the cold to watch for.

| is'nt that where the Ice Road Truckers drive? I have that howl at start up in the really cold mornings, everyone that responded to me said its the power steering fluid warming up. I wonder if thats related. Philadelphia does not get as cold as Churchill, Manitoba, Canada gets.

| Do you live up there all year round? What do you do for work? That's cool that they are sending you the part, will they still warranty it even if you install it rather than a Toyota tech? |

| First of all the summers aren't too bad (if you can stand all the bugs) we can get as warm as 30C. No we don't have any ice roads up here....plane or train are the only ways out. I didn't know that about the donuts....I did lend the truck to my daughter for the day.....hmmmmm. Toyota has been awesome about sending parts up and warrantying them even though it is not a Toyota tech installing them. They too realize that the closest dealership is roughly 800 km's away. I really wish they would let me do their cold weather testing for them.....lol |
