Bad Luck

So I was coming home from the lake and had a suicidal pheasant fly in front of me. I hit her dead center in the gril and she punched a hole in the grill....... and the condensor. The grill doesnt even show damage, but the AC condensor has a pin hole in it. Have you heard of an AC condensor being soldered/welded/brazed. I am having trouble finding a condensor for it that I can afford - Toyota wants $880 for a new one and all the after market companies are saying they are back ordered. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks for any info.

Yikes, sorry to hear of your bad luck. Does your insurance cover animal-caused damage? Might be worth calling them.

If it were a radiator then you could get it fixed or patch it yourself. I doubt it would be done on a condenser.

I would suggest trying to find one from a wrecked Tundra. Hopefully there is one from a frame damaged Tundra (like ArticTundra's truck was) that has the engine and front end intact. Should be a lot cheaper than a new one.

A skilled welder using "Tig" should be able to repair an aluminum ac condenser. I have repaired several on older vehicles. If you can find someone to attempt it the condenser will need to be removed from vehicle. It should be fairly inexpensive to do this type repair. Just my 2 cents.

I have a guy who is going to try it Friday, if it works it works, if not I have to replace it anyway. Thanks for the comments.
