Crossbar Under Passenger Seat has Rust on It

Anyone else experience this...
I guess the kids have put their feet on it and now there is rust on the crossbar underneath my passenger seat. it. Took it to the dealer and they tell me that it is not covered!
I am open to any thoughts and suggestions you have on this subject.

If they bar does not come out easily Kent, you could always remove the seat (I would think no more than 4 bolts) then either remove the bar to sand and paint, or mask everything off, sand and paint it in place????

I appreciate the advice on how to fix it. My point is that it should have never happened. Toyota should have painted it or put a coating on it or something. I wonder how many other trucks out there that have the back seat used on a regular basis have this same problem and do not even realize it. I just called Toyota and they told me it is not a defect in the part so it is not covered.

Gotcha Kent.... I misunderstood your post as asking advice on fixing it. Now that I understand what you're asking, I just looked at mine, and I don't even have that bar. Maybe the bar is there only with manually adjustable seats? I guess you could always talk with Toyota Corporate and file a complaint???

There are lots of parts behind the dash that aren't painted either. Though they will rust after you put your hands on them.

I went and checked mine. My passenger seat has the same bar. It has very minor surface rust starting on the outside ends, but otherwise mine still looks good. I'll paint it when I strip the truck interior (hopefully soon).

Looked at mine.......As per Tox, it has just a hint of rust but just surface........it is only the manual seat that have it...........the bar you grab to adjust the seat from the front is made of the same material but they painted it very nicely......they should have done the same for the rear support........
