Question Key Fob

OK, what exactly is the range on the key fobs? My seems possessed at times. How far can you be away from the truck and it still work?

I don't have the tech specs or anything, but I'd say if I have direct line of sight of my Tundra, I'd give it... 15-20 yards.

If there's stuff in the way, it can drop down to about 5 (yards).

The remote start is supposed to only be 80 feet and that works off the same key fob, doesn't it? So I would guess 80 feet. I usually hold mine up to my noggin if I think I am out of range.

At my house the range is poor - i live near cell towers etc.. maybe this effects it. It has to be in sight, and only about 30ft away.

The last camping trip we had, we had some serious bear problems. I was tented about 60ft from the Tundra when a big black bear came into our camp site - the thought occured to me that I could scare the bear away by hitting the panic button on the fob.. I almost didn't do it because the truck was so far away, but i tried it anyway.. and it worked! so.. clearly a matter of what other radio interference is around you.

And yeah.. in case your wondering, the horn and lights flashing to all hell is a very effective bear scare!!!
