JT, I spent all morning looking and all I found was the left screen up down thing...it does not work on this version.

I cannot believe what you came up with, this whole disc burning thing...pretty damn good, assuming it works! I am very moderate when it comes to computer skills; am I going to be installing an older version of the nav or just adding the override function to the version I have??

My Truck is about 2 weeks old I think I can at least skip the soap and water portion!

I appreciate all the help that everyone has offered! I am going to give this a try, I must admit, my confidence in myself to do this correctly is very low.

I will let you know if it works!

You'll just be replacing the v6.1 loading.kwi with the v5.1 loading.kwi, You'll still be running the newer version just loading via the older loading file.

Once again ac6521, I don't have Nav this is just what I dug up off the net. Worst case scenario you just put your original disc back in and your back to square one.

Hope this works for you!

Wow... I contacted Locpic hoping they had come up with a Locpic for the Tundra. I was VERY dissapointed in the email response I got. Here is a copy of the emails. I was hoping we could get a little interest from their companysince they already have Toyota and Lexus Locpics designed but given their response... they dont seem interested. I also sent an email back to them to see what kind of interest they needed to design a system for the Tundra and have not recieved a response.

Does the version 5 still require a "redo" every time you start up? Great info though I will try it on the truck in a bit.

we do not have a unit for the tundra.
Please let me know if I may assist you further : )

Subject: Lockpic Question

I am a "fairly new" owner of a 2007 Toyota Tundra and I am VERY interested in purchasing a lockpic (ultimate) for my truck. I did notice there is not a lockpic shown to fit my truck. I am also told the NAV system is from the Lexus... and there is applications for those. Is there a plan for a Lockpic to fit the 2007 Tundra and if so do you have a timeline?

Thank you for your response.

From what I understand version 5 still requires redo everytime you restart your vehicle!

This seems to be easier to talk about than to actually do! I copied the files from my version 6.1 to a file on my computer. Then I downloaded the version 5.1.KWI. When I went to delete the 6.1.KWI it was not there? There are about 11 .KWI files none of which are "6.1.KWI".??? I really appreciate all the help, but I seem to be stuck right now!

Anymore ideas?

While I was searching for help with overriding the NAV, I ran across a product for the Prius NAV system it looked like a wire loom that you spliced (plugged in) in the NAV wire loom that is under the drivers seat. It cost around $200, I wonder if that product would work or if there was one like it for the Tundra system?

ac6521,

Please see this thread to see if this is what you are describing:

http://www.toyotatundraforum.com/int...av-screen.html

Also see the post #13 of this thread by thegabrielles....CoastalTech still does not have the device for the Tundra yet.

I agree with thegabrielles...if CoastalTech has units for the Prius and Lexus products it seems like they would be able to get one compatible with the Tundra NAV system fairly quickly.

This was the product I was talking about: hack your Toyota Prius GPS Navigation System -- NaviGadget

It seems a lot easier than tearing the dash apart!

Also, I have been reading up more on making a "hybrid" disc and there seems to be more people having trouble doing it than those that are successful. It appears that the unsuccessful ones are the ones like me...with moderate computer skills.

Exclamation Followed Inx, however still need assistance, please

Hello,

First I would like to say, lots of good information on this forum - thanks for all the DYIs and how to's!

I've had my truck for 2 weeks now.

Alright, I just followed the instructions for creating a hybrid NAV DVD. I burned everything to a dual layered DVD (DVD+R DL). I went back out to the truck, and I pushed the OPEN/CLOSE button on the NAV, loaded the new DVD. The Navigation unit keeps spinning the DVD and is attempting to read it, however for the most part the NAV unit has stopped responding to me. I can get some of the screens to change (i.e. MAP, DESTINATION, INFO.), however the screens hang up - take a while to transistion from one screen to another and sometimes display over the previous screen. Additionally the NAV is NOT responding to any of the touchscreen commands/prompts. Only the HARD buttons are working. The radio even stopped functioning property - i.e. no reception & given the prompt that the hardware is not connected (or something to that effect).

I can not get the unit to open and eject my hybrid DVD. Any suggestions? I've tried truning the ignition on and off a few times. When the NAV boots up, it displays the Toyota Logo for an extended period of time, and you can hear the Navigation system spinning the disc over and over again.

I just want to get the unit to allow me to eject the current DVD and start from the beginning. Right now, I don't have a good feeling about all of this.

Any suggestions would be greatly apprecaited.

Thanks in advance!

Update

I've gotten the hybrid DVD out of the NAV unit by removing the negative terminal, and upon reboot I was able to remove the DVD.

I tried the same DVD a 2nd time, same result.

I'm going to try to reburn the disc and see what happens this time around. Any insight would be great!
