Terrible ride with base model DC

Hey guys, I just bought a new 08 base 4x4, 5.7 DC and I really like the truck other than a few things. One is the ride over rough pavement. It's so bouncy it seems out of control. There have been a few times where I thought the back end was going to bounce right out. BTW, my truck has no towing package, 4.10 gears, with the base 18" steel wheel and the 255 70 tires.

My father has an 07 DC Limited with 20" wheels and his truck doesn't seem so darn bouncy. He says my trucks is smoother - which may be, but it seems much more "out of control". Maybe I'm explaining this wrong.

Is there a different shock/wheel/tire change that could be made to improve the ride and control?

Oh, and I hate the traction control gremlins
Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
Marc

Marc, is the ride you're talking about more prevalent on concrete highways? One thing I've noticed is the expansion joints at certain distances seem to set up some sort of harmonic resonance that makes the ride feel "awkward." Never noticed it on asphalt highways. As far as suspension setups, I suspect guys on here with a lot more experience than me on these things can give you an answer.

In this case the county HWY I drive every day is asphalt, but it's pretty rough.
On concrete highways it seems fine over most expansion joints.

Thanks

Mine is similar to yours. I do get bounce over roads that are rough. I upped my tire pressure to 40 psi and it does bounce a little more stable.
Since it is infrequent it doesn't bother me and afterall it is a truck. You could add weight to the bed to lessen it.

I've heard that complaint from another 4x4 5.7 DC (off rd. pkg.) owner.

However, I've noticed no such thing with my 2x4 limited (20in. w/ tow pkg.). Then again, I have not gone "off-roading" to the same extent as the other guy.
