jrdavis and I talked about it a little this morning. I don't see a way for the bags to be turned and installed the other way.

Look at the top plates (bottom center). The holes are off-center and it can only be installed one way. I don't see how they can install it the other way around.

Agreed

Tox,

Thanks for the dialogue this morning. I agree (and I validated the hard way this morning by pulling a bag and trying to make it work). Can't happen!!! Instructions are flat out incorrect. Re-assessed bag postion / alignment and don't see an issue.

Leak air?

I installed these with the compressor mounted in the rear fender hiding it inside between the double wall rear fender. The switch and gauge is also mounted in the bed interior. I should move it to the cab interior but I thought it would be better to have it in the back where I can see the height of the rear. The one thing I am having a problem with is air loss. I put the 5 lb. in for a unloaded pressure and it will leak out in about 2 weeks. A couple of times I found that I bottom them out with camping gear in the back (500 lb.) and have to stop and put in air. That is why I want to move the switch. I am also thinking of changing the quick connects they provide. I expect that is where my air is leaking from.
P.S. I have a Leer cover over the bed.

Use some soapy water at the connections. Even a slow leak should show some bubbles. Pull the hose out of the leaking connector, cut the end off flat and reinsert it. It might fix the leak.

Also soak the entire bag... sometimes they do get leaks at the seams of the bags.

Tox and Jrdavis65,

Sorry I have been on much lately, I have seen this a few times with their kits, they have all the right parts, but the weeney typing out the install instructions messed up, in my opinion. Then the "Tech" that e-mailed back is yet another weeney that has never installed them. Hes looking a .pdf files behind a computer screen all day. Like a said in my PM, as long as the bag is directly above the axle, and being supported well, (not hanging 3/4 of the way off the leaf springs) and the bag is sitting nicely, not distorted... you got the kit right.

I havent put bags in a 2 gen as of yet. I did however put 2 rear hitches and a front hitch on the 2 gen. WoW both were incredibly easy DIY The rear hitch does however re use factory bolts... Pretty easy.

Again sorry I couldnt help.

Ya. I agree with the instructions a little bit crappy. I pre assembled mine, then installed it on the truck. The first time, the bag appeared lopsided, so I switched the bags and got it right. Got a Sharpy and marked all components D and P for Driver side and Passenger side. So if I ever removed it I won't interchange the parts.

Pre assembled the top and bottom brackets with the bag, then, lift the truck body a little bit to extend the suspension, compress the bag with the brackets on it, line up the top holes, and then bolt it down.

I'd just like to say that lower bolt in the picture was a pain to install and get the bag to line up properly. I swear I had to tighten and loosen that bolt 5 times (off the truck) before the top and bottom plates would line up.

air loss?

How does your air pressure hold? Mine leaks very slow. I loose the pressure in a week. if I have a load it will hold for the trip but not for days. I blame the quick connect fittings. I may change them. My compressor is mounted between the inner and outter fenders foward of the tail lights.

I kept the lower bolt loose so I can position the bag properly. Then when all looks good, I tightened the bolts and nuts. No pressure loss. The elbow on top of the bags may need some more tightening. But do it slowly. Use soapy water to check for leaks around the fittings and valves.

I had leaks with mine so I went to the freightliner dealer and got proper fittings (not the cheesy push in ones) and still had a leak. Switched from teflon tape to teflon pipe dope and I hold air indefinitely now.
