B20 Biodiesel

Went by a Marathon station today that had B20 Biodiesel. First time I've noticed biodiesel available, but I don't think there will be many buyers since it was 15 cents HIGHER than regular diesel.

Anybody noticed biodiesel for sell in your neck of the woods?

We have one BP bulk plant with pumps out back. Both E-85 and biodiesel are higher. I looked over while driving by and folks were lined up buying the heck out of them. I geuss they all have more tree hugging ability than I.

I guess they think the tractors, combines, trucks and tankers are ran on water?

We hire custom combiners for wheat harvest. Have had the same ones for years from ND. They had bought a couple combines that had been sitting for several months with bio in them. It grew algae in the tanks, and they were having to change fuel filters...OFTEN.

Never heard of algae growing tanks and we have some bio diesels in Iowa. I know that the prices changes more with the price of crops so it might be higher this week and lower then regular diesel next week.

These are the combines that had the algae problem

This gutless Kubota Diesel that I got for the kid (safety issue and comfortable in cold weather, other than that no redeeming features) had the same problem. Who knows what kind of fuel they put in it when it was manufactured and how long it was in there. Took me a while to figure it out, because who would think that the fuel filter was restricted soon after purchase.
