| I have the V1 and love it. The fact that without Mike Valentine the Escort brand would probably not even be around today since he was the genius behind its design back in the mid 70's and early 80's. After he left Cincinnati Microwave (Escort manufacture), he developed a wish list of features for a radar detector, cherry picked the leading engineers of the industry and Valentine Research was born. The V1 is upgradable, has 2 antennas (one facing forward and the other facing back), can tell you if the detected radar is in front, side or rear and has a magnesium case. It is not perfect but IMHO worth every penny.

![]() The V1 is at the top of my list should the current one ever go out. This one works for now and so it would be pointless for me to upgrade and shelf the old one. I bet my younger brother would take it (for free), but he wants one of those stupid talking ones like my older brother has.

| With how I have my detector mounted, I can't really see the display so I don't have the expert mode turned on. With only having Ka and Lidar turned on, if I hear the detector I know it's an officer somewhere. I'll turn on the expert mode and start paying attention and report back in a couple weeks with what I see. |

Thanks RONE. What I see mostly is the 34.7 Stalker. The State LEOs use that and Lidar. I'm seeing less and less K as well. About the only guys that use that around here is the Nassau County Highway Patrol, but they mostly use Lidar. |

| I think I even have K turned off on mine. I'll have to check that. |
