Hey, I will most likely end up getting this through the group buy. I just have one question, when reading about it on the mfg website it says "Make and store up to 10 rewritable special codes
to send to the vehicle computer" what the heck does this mean? Can I send a code to eliminate the speed limiter?

They pretty much leave it up to your imagination. Check out some of the other GB's we've had on these. There are some pretty adventurous people. I'd never think of attempting something like that, but there are some extreme risk takers.

Talk to you all soon,

John

An update to the install...

Hmm.. not sure why, but the included sticky/velco pads don't seem to remain in place for too long. Will have to pick up some different adhesive i guess.

So I just went for a few long tows.. on average i am getting about 17LHK (litres per hundre kilometers) with 5000+ lb trailer attached i'm seeing 24LHK. Was very interesting to monitor the various temperatures and such when towing.. also after wearing the batteries down in the trailer for a couple days of camping, was interesting to see the charging activity on the volt guages - i could actually tell when the batteries were done and topped up!

Took on some huge hills towing.. the temp varied maybe 1 degree.. the tundra really held it's own with the trailer. I was impressed!

Thanks for the update. How else might you mount your ScanGauge?
I wish people would place their orders in the group buy so I could get mine!

Actually I was thinking in the overhead console would be cool.. the included cable is 6' long, so it wouldn't work.. but I am sure you could just extend that with a cat-5 cable. Otherwise.. the location on the steering column actually works out well, just that the sticky velcro seems to be.. well not so sticky.

I have had the same problem with the adhesive on the velcro. I finally used double sided carpet tape onto the velcro. So far it has held. Pretty impressed with the ScanGauge but you would think they could come with a better adhesive. Will try for some pictures of my installation.
