| ScanGauge II Installed (Pics!) Hey All! Got the scangauge installed and mounted in the Tundra. Some of you might recall from my previous threads that my Tundra was delivered without the accessory meter installed. I was really dissapointed about this because I was concerned with what my fuel economy was going to be like - well, now I'm glad the truck didn't come with the option because it forced me to go out and buy an aftermarket unit, the ScanGuage II, which I am completely pleased with. The install was a snap, I've mounted it on the steering column with the included velcro pads and it doesn't obstruct anything in the instrument cluster. (omg is my truck really that dirty?!) Passenger Side Below, the connector cable is fed down the steering column behind the dash to the OBDII connector underneath. I simply bundled up the extra slack with a twist tie (it's a 6' cable) and tucked it in place. The unit cost $160 USD and offers 12 different gauges - all of which are fed information by the ECU via the OBDII port under the steering wheel. The available gauges are: Fuel economy, fuel flow rate, voltage, intake air temp, coolant temp, engine speed (rpm), vehicle speed (kmh, mph), engine load, throttle position, manifold pressure (not available on the Tundra), ignition timing, and open/closed loop indicator. Config was a snap - set the units, set the engine size, set the tank capacity. You can then view 4 of the guages at a time, and customize what you want displayed. Even the colour of the display is customizable with way more colours than anyone needs. I was able to use one of the presets to get fairly close to the tundra colour, and I am sure I could get it bang-on using the custom colour options. The Scanguage also includes a full trip computer - it will give you information about the current day, the previous day, or the current tank of fuel. Every time you fill up at the gas station, you press the fillup button and the computer resets it's information (in this case to reflect the full 100L is on board) so that it can automatically tell you how much time & distance you have left, how much you've used, and what your economy has been. Yeah, apologies, this is going to be all in metric Another look; Naturally, the scanguage is also a full ODB diagnostic code reader. I don't have any pictures of this, because when i invoke this option is just says "no codes found" - guess i'll have to wait for the Tundra to run into some trouble to see how this works. There are some other modes and options i'm not sure about yet. It seems like there are memory locations available to program/upload codes and send to the ECU, but i'm not sure what that entails. I've also heard word that there is a USB interface in the works, so you can easily upgrade and adjust the software on the unit. All-in-all, very please with my new toy... now if i can just try to stay focused on the road instead of my gauges hehe

And you must drive with your windows down. That's the only way I can think of to get that much dust on the dash and steering column cover. I used to have the same thing happen in my old car.
