Is it possible to do some reprogramming with messing everything else up. There are two things I would consider doing on my 09 5.7L dbl cab 4x4:

1) remove the use of first gear in the normal mode (make it only available in tow/haul mode) - with the 4.30 diff. and the second gear being 1.96, I think it would be very similar to the manual overdrive trannys where first is only used for hauling (like a ZF in an F250).

2) change the existing cruise control (constant velocity) or add a constant throttle position mode (maybe by elimiminating any speed control input once the cruise is set) - with all of the power the 5.7L has, I don't think it needs to downshift when going over an overpass or small hills.

Any thoughts.

Doubt it will happen anytime soon. Toyota uses their own programming for their computers.
