The harness wires in the glove box need to be connected to the harness wires that come with the brake controller. You can solder and heat shrink or use crimp connectors, whatever you like. If you need it to be even easier, they usually sell a brake controller harness that is already wired for a Toyota. Cost a little extra but makes it easy for you to install. I'd suggest spending that extra money to get a little more fancy controller.

Yep, soulshine... I am very pleased with my Voyager and I paid less than half the price of the Prodigy.

You can get the complete connector harness from Tekonsha for about $15. I have a Tekonsha P3.

I'm new to the forum. I bought a used 2006 double cab and want to haul a 24' camping trailer. I'm looking at the Tekonsha Prodigy. I have no harness...So, what do I need and where can I get it?

Hey David, Welcome to the Forum. I guarantee you will get a ton more responses for exactly what you need if you post an intro in the New Members forum, introduce yourself, and ask this specific question there. BTW, i dont tow anything, but most of the guys on here do, and they will give you more info then you can shake a stick at.

Most hitch places or rv places will have the harness, i think there like $15.00. Mine was hardwired in my last truck this time I had to buy a harnesss & thats what it cost me.

'08 pre-wire harness

New guy here. Just got my '08 Big-T with the factory 7-pin hitch setup and the "Trailer Brake Jumper Harness" in the glove box. My electric brake controller, a "Draw-Tite Activator II" has 4 wires: a line to the brake connection for the trailer in the 7-pin connector, one to the battery, one to ground, one to the tow-vehicle's stoplight switch. I've found the corresponding descriptions on the Toyota wire harness for these four, but the harness has one more wire coming from it labeled as "headlamp switch to vehicle trail lamps". Since when do the "trail lamps" go thru the controller? Anybody else come across this? Do I just coil-up and ignore the extra line? Thanks in advance! Regards, BGood

I have never seen the extra wire used; mine is taped back to the harness.

What's the best place to install the brake controller for appearance and function? You really don't have to ever adjust or handle it, right?
(Planning to tow a travel trailer, but just got my Tundra.)
