woody, if my memory is not failing me, it seems to me that on the Gen 1's the truck trailer connector is above (and maybe slightly to the right of) the parking brake area, kinda' tucked in with some other wires.

You won't regret the upgrade woody, and there some deals to be made right now on the Gen 2 Tundras! BTW, good luck on your trailer brake controller.

can I drill a hole in the back of the pocket and fish the wire through to the side and kick panel. The toyota harness I got is to short to get to that pocket hole so I will have to extend it . The way the dash goes straight down so far it is hard to set that ps3 that far down to allow it to be horizontal.

Are you talking about the pocket below the A/C controls? I cut a rectangle hole in the back of the pocket for the plug. I used the harness that came with the truck, connected it to the harness that came with the P3 brake controller and added a new ground wire for it. It was more than long enough to reach from the truck plug to the brake controller. Prodigy was the one who recommended adding the ground wire. They said the Toyota ground in the plug was not large enough. I'm sure the pre-made harness you bought has the extra ground wire.

I pulled the pocket out. Open up both cigarette lighter holes, put a thumb in each one, and pull. It will pop right out. Mark where the plug will hit the back of the pocket and use a dremel to cut the opening. If you don't have a dremel, you can drill the opening with a large drill bit and make 2 holes beside each other. I used a heavy duty 2" wide velcro to attach the controller to the top of the pocket. That velcro is pretty tough stuff and holds really well. Hasn't moved yet.
