| That milage is the same as I am getting....I have a 25 foot travel trailer that weighs 4200 lbs empty and about 5K loaded and I get about 7-7.5 mpg going 70-75 mph...............I have a 24 ft pontoon boat and it probably weights about 4k loaded but I get 9-9.5 mpg pulling it at 70-75 mph and I'm sure it's because it does not stick up above the cab and has much less wind resistance........... The thing is these trucks have 4.30 gears (very low for factory gearing) with the towing package and are rated at over 10k lbs towing capacity even with the 6 speed with two overdrive gears its going to use alot of gas to pull a sail down the road.........I bet you could get almost get the same 7-7.5 mpg pulling 10k lbs on a low profile trailer without the high wind resistance........

| Yep, been a while, but I've pulled close to 9000 lbs (4wd tractor with front end loader and shredder) and as I recall, I've usually get around 8.5 mpg.

| Hey Thanks for all the input. I have recectly put a K&N filter into the stock air box. Mpg'sjumped about 1-1.5. I just Got back from the Jersey shore pulling the same travel trailer. About 250 miles. I live in Catskill ny. I tried to stay under 70. I got 11.5 mpg's on the way down. That I can definitely live with!!! On the way home I kicked it up alittle 75-80. I got 8 MPG's - not complaining though. |

| I'm getting in the 16s city/highway and 14ish when towing a 3000lb popup trailer. Better than I was getting with my V8 Mountaineer. Running 55-65 when towing (and when not) seems to make a big difference. Keeping the rpms down in general helps as well. |

| I got avg. 12.5 'round town & 14.5 hwy until.. I had to make the trip to Miami (1k miles one way) to pick up my 8'w x 18'l enclosed cargo trailer. I have a neighbor who swears by bed covers and said he gained 4 mpg after installing one. With only 3 hours and not the kind of money to buy a cover, i built one. I'll go into the build later. I averaged 18.5 on the hwy going down there running mostly 80mph. The trip back hauling the "broadside of a barn", I didn't fair so well: 65mph = avg. 8.5mpg. I am gonna build the trailer into a v-nose - more about that later. Get a bed cover! |

| I averaged 20.6 mpg over a 200 mile stretch at 78mph while coming back from the lake yesterday (not towing anything). I also averaged 19.5 and 18.8 on a couple other tank fills during that trip.

| Wow, I'm suprised at the differences in mileage here. I have an 07 Crewmax 5.7L with the tow package. Around town I get about 16mpg, on the highway my best ever (locked the cruise at 55) 25.5mpg. My average highway for going to work is about 22 and includes getting to the interstate. Driving back last week from the OBX to SW Ohio with a bunch of bikes and other gear in the bed at about 75mph I got 19.5mpg. I'm currently towing a pup that weighs in loaded at about 3500 pounds, plus gear and 4 passengers in the truck. Driving back and forth to Destin I averaged 17.5mpg. I'm picking up a HTT this week and expect to get about 10mpg at 65mph..... we'll see. |

| 15.8 mpg this weekend towing a 3000 pound popup camper 350 miles . Mostly state highways, 65 mph max, but plenty of going through 35 mph zones in the little towns. |
