What size ball mount?

What size ball mount and ball would fit the TUNDRA tow package, is that 2 or 21/2 inches?

Looking for rearender's protection with a decent setup.

And yes I have been reading.

The receiver size is 2" EVOL. Most 2" mounts do not come with a ball, so you can put a 1 7/8", 2" or 2 5/16" ball on depending on what size your trailer requires. Personally, four of my trailers require the 2" ball and one (the heavy duty flat bed trailer) requires a 2 5/16" ball, so I have a mount and ball for the 2" trailers and a mount and ball for the 2 5/16" trailer. Also, because I'm so anal, I even carry around a mount with a 1 7/8" ball in case I have to pull someone else's trailer that requires that size, lol! BTW, with my 4WD Tundra, I have found that the 3" drop mount works best for me... just make sure they are rated for whatever you're towing (e.g., for my big trailer, I have a 15,000 lb rating mount).

I HAVE TO MEASURE MY MOUNT FROM MY PREVIOUS f 150(USED IT ONCE TO HAULL A U HAULL WHEN MOVING). There is allot of play in that ON tundra hitch, is the 2 inch mount a tight fit or is their play?

Maybe that much play is normal but will probably rattle if it is right size mount.

Time to break out tape measure but I thought it was a nice tight fit in F 150 hitch that I had.

Just thinking for trips to put it back their for the tailgating idiots, Lately Houston has allot of those.

And whats worse when you leave distance with guy in front of you some other idiot jumps in that space, no wonder we have 3-4 car collisions at a time. Hate city driving with a passion, and I am a city boy!

There will be a little wiggle room with the mount in the receiver EVOL, but not enough that I worry about it... in fact, I usually leave the mount out except when I need to trailer something. Hadn't thought about leaving it in as rear protection, lol!

DON'T YOU THINK IT WOULD HELP before full contact with bumper?

Yep, it's happened to me before. I was in my a different truck, but someone came up behind me and slammed on his brakes, (going less then 20 mph I suppose) his front bumper slipped under the hitch, but the nut on the bottom of the receiver ended up riding half way up his hood. I was rolling at the time, so I barely felt the impact, but it left him with a big nasty! Nothing bothered on my truck.

Has anyone tried Superbumper? SUPERBUMPER Hitch Step - Stops Rear End Collision Damage.. This page has a Motorweek video clip of the super bumper on a Tundra. It also looks lighter than a regular mount.

Can't disagree with gprince since he's actually been hit from behind with the mount in the receiver hitch... I may have to start leaving it in... that is, if my shins can stand the frequent bruises from the danged thing sticking out when I walk around the back of the truck, lol!
