I wouldn't mind going in and getting the hooks. I am going back to La. next week and I'll get the original mats from storage. I took them out the day I bought it. They might want us to trade them out for the new ones. My all-weathers have spikes, so they don't move, but I have a 3yr old and I'm not willing to take any chances!

Got the letter on Saturday. There is no way I am going to remove the mats just because some idiot does not know enough about their vehicle to either hit the brakes, shift to neutral, turn the key to the first click (dont lock the steering column) or push the start button for 3 seconds (Lexus) to shut the vehicle down and coast to the side of the road. NOOOOOOO you let the thing accelerate to 135 MPH as you swerve in and out of traffic, call 911, call your Mom, call Obama to save you, ride it out as long as you can....then crash and die in a great big fire ball!!!!!!!!!! But thats just me......LOL

Toyota's main concern is the all weather mats. They are asking customers to remove the drivers mat only. They implemented a quick fix of punching a hole in the mats and wire tieing them to the frame of the seat and making sure the clips on put into the mats.

I bought thick generic rubber floor mats with deep grooves for mud and water from PepBoys, and there is no way that they can get over the gas petal because they go all the way under it. Why doesn't Toyota make the factory mats do the same, you don't need to push the petal to the floor to get full throttle.
