It's the button with the picture of the truck and the squiggly lines. If the VSC light is always flashing, then there is a problem with the truck and may not be related to the VSC.

A couple months ago on a warm summer day, I fired up my truck to do about an hour-long trip and noticed all my warning lights came on. At the same time, my transmission would not shift past 4th or wouldn’t go faster then 60mph before over revving. There was nothing I can do to get it to shift the upper gears. After a long over revving trip to my dealer, they plugged it in to laptop to do diagnostics. Turns out that some 07 trannies have a faulty solenoid for 4th gear, which get stuck thus causing a stuck shifting problem. These transmissions are sealed units and have to be replaced to fix problem. I now have a new transmission with update solenoids and also came with updated computer.
Supposedly my truck was the second transmission to have this problem at this dealer, which I’m sure a larger dealer would experience more.
So if anyone is having any shifting problems, have it documented at the dealer so that you will be protected in the long term.

Dan

I spoke to soon. I just got back from a trip towing my boat and at least 10 times on the freeway it would refuse going above 4th. I would just momentarily go to S mode with out shifting and it would clear itself.
I need to get it checked.

They'll say there are a few incidents, but Toyota has not yet decided it is a big enough problem to warrant looking into.

On a related note, just the other day my truck started playing the 3-speed transmission game again (after not doing it for a long time). A quick pop over to 'S' and back to 'D' reminds the transmission that it does indeed have 6 gears.

Mine was reported 2 years ago and they told me that Toyota had not heard of the problem before.

I reported it last year, and was told that the area rep (don't know how big of an area) had only heard of 4 cases.
