Scratched my truck

Does anyone know where I could possibly go to fix a scratch that is about 6 inches long and it starts like at the end of the passenger door and goes to my rear door. I have double cab btw...I went to maaco and they said it was gonna be $520. Idk if that is expensive or not b/c this never happened. Any ideas on how I could fix it myself or any places in houston, tx?

Too wide or too deep to use touch up paint?

Keep price checking, that is too much. I dinged my rear door GOOD in the campground in July. 1st estimate was $900, the 2nd was $600. I ended up getting it fixed for $250 and they didn't take any shortcuts. Fixed the dents and repainted the whole door and was able to put the weather stripping and SR5 decals back on. The other places quoted that they couldn't save them.

I would drop by a local car wholesaler and ask where they send there cars for minor repairs.

Good luck!

If you have time and an automotive paint store near you ask them who to see. They get guys who work for shops that come in to pick up paint that want side jobs. It could be half price from them. But the savings come at some risk of getting a guy who thinks he can do it but can't.
My wife scratched her cars front bumper on the bottom corner. it was $ 550 from the local shop. But when I went to paint it myself. While I was having my paint mixed another customer was also picking up supplies wanted me to let him paint it for under $300.
The guy at the counter said he could do it well but I stuck with my plan and did it myself with 95% results.

What's the old saying, a good repair paint job will go unnoticed, while a bad repair paint job will always be noticed.

In my opinion, a professional paint job by a professional car painter is not cheap, unless you want cheap results.

I agree, I've asked five different people and they haven't found the repaired door yet! Find a place where the wholesalers take theirs and keep away from the retail car body shops.

Keep searching and ask for references!

Ouch! Looks like it's got a little dent in there too. I see you're in Houston. If you're near Spring there in a little shop, Auto Repair Express that I use all the time. The owner, Bob, is a straight up guy and will treat you right. I had an old Camry before the Tundra that he had to do some body work on after someone backed into be. Looked kind of like yours does. Dark Metallic silver and you could not see a thing when he was done. I would check them out if you're close. PM me if interested and I'll get you his info.

Yeah dents are a bigger issue, even if you touch them up you will see the dents. Plus the paint is extra weak where the metal creased to form the dent and could flake over time.

The scratch looks white is that foreign paint? Do you see any bare metal? If it is paint from whatever hit you and there is no bare metal you might be able to buff it down and live with the dents.
