A few questions from a new owner. I'm picking up my new (to me) 2008 DC SR5. It's got 9500 miles and had its first oil change at 5400 miles. Taking that into consideration..... Am I ok, on the next oil change, to go with 5-20 Full synthetic. (can't find 0-20.) it's a 4.7L 5speed model. Also, I'm coming off of a car that used premium gas. Do i need to continue to do so in the tundra. I'm in NW missouri (for weather considerations). Thanks for the help guys. Matt

I'm fine on full synthetic even if it's lived its first 9500 miles on non-synthetic?!?! I guess that was my concern. Anything else you'd recommend? I'm having trouble finding reviews on 'good' linex distributors in my area. That will be my first ''mod''. Thanks matt

Matt, you'll be fine with full synthetic even with the 9500 miles on your truck, and even if it's lived its entire life on dino oil. Heck the engine's not even really broken in until about that time anyway. As far as Line-X, you might want to PM David (123Gone), our Line-X authorized vendor and see if he has any recommendations for a Line-X dealer in your area.

Welcome Matt... and btw, if it'll give you more confidence in my answer on the use of synthetic oil, many folks won't even start their truck on full synthetic until at least the 1st oil change (5000 miles) under the theory (as I understand it) that the dino is a better break-in oil than synthetic, so waiting one more oil change to start synthetic is no big deal. Anyhow, I hope David is able to assist you on the Line-X.

| All you need is 87 octane in the truck. My understanding is that the computer adjusts the firing of the plug to adjust for the octane of the fuel. So in theory, regular unleaded should burn the same as super unleaded.

Thanks Tox. That makes sense. (is it weird that I feel a hint of being 'honored' that two of the bigger forum names here (from what I have seen) are the ones replying to my first official thread?!?!) That's awesome guys....thanks for the info. Matt
