I bought Mobil 1 5w/20 for mine (2 each 5 quart jugs at Walmart for around $44 plus tax).. the Livingston, TX Walmart doesn't carry the 0w/20 Mobil 1.

I've heard that you should use 0-20 for colder climates and 5-20 for warmer climates. Being in Texas, I'll stick to 5-20.

Maybe that's the reason my local WalMart carries only the 5w/20!

I switched mine to ROYAL PURPLE and it really quieted down the engine. It doesn't have as much noise when starting out in the morning now.

Mine gets its first oil change next weekend... wish me luck (although this post will help a bunch). Now if I can just find the right container to catch the oil without it going all over the place!

Rarjar, I found that a 5 gal. plastic bucket such as something like driveway sealer comes in makes an excellent container to catch the oil. Of course this is with the understanding that you are using ramps or something to gain some height. I also found that a piece of scrap garden hose, or any piece of hose that fits, added to the oil filter drain tool really helps. Seems that most people fail to push the tool in far enough for it to seat in the filter housing which causes oil to run outside the tool. Really, the oil change on the Tundra is not that bad. Hope this can help.

Thanks P... I will likely use ramps so the 5 gallon bucket suggestion is appreciated. Now that I think about it the bucket that the 35 lb. 3" Chlorine pool tablets bucket is about 3+ gallons and a little shorter than a 5 gallon bucket, so I might try that. Thanks again P!

OK, thanks to mhadden's DIY instructions and P's suggestions of ramps and bucket, made my first oil change start to finish (including clean up and resetting maintenance reminder) in under 1 1/2 hours. Not really that bad... but I now realize the quality of the oil filter flute is important as the one I got from AutoZone sucks!!
