Wow, have done a little checking around for a high quality 64mm (14 flats) oil filter flute and now have a little sticker shock! My dealer can order one exactly like the dealership uses for all of the 5.7 liter Tundra oil changes for $54 (including tax). My brother-in-law mechanic told me he can get a high quality one off the Snap-on tool truck for slightly less (low to mid $40's). Anybody have any suggestions for a little cheaper alternative... don't tell me AutoZone because their's suck and slip on the filter housing! Thanks.

My Valvoline one I bought from Wally World works great. Steel housing and doesn't slip...$10 I think.

Don't forget you need a 65mm with 14 flutes, not a 64

I forgot to mention that the Valvoline one is a 65/67 combo. I've had no problems with it slipping, but some have cut the top portion (the 67mm part) so it would fit better.

Oh, and it's Matt

Thanks Matt... not sure where I came up with the 64 mm, but I suspect the one I got from Auto Zone was a 65 mm (or maybe even slightly larger, although the salesman "allegedly" used a micrometer to measure it), it was just poorly made and real cheap looking. I may try the Valvoline one from Wally World to see how it works before I spend nearly $50 for the "high-quality" one!

This is the one that I use, it is a KD3253 that I bought at NAPA. It is the same one that I used for the Titan and works equally well on the Tundra.

Skyhammer?

How much did the KD cost ya?
I picked up the plastic Valvoline one at WallyWorld when already there.
It worked but wasn't a tight fit.
I want a real tool!
Thanks

Great first post. I changed the oil last weekend your post was a good reference.

I used a 65/57mm cap purchased at the Toy dealer and had a difficult time getting the unit off. Fortunately, it went on much easier (using the 3/8" oil filter drain plug).
