Anyone interested in getting their hands on one of these 6 inch engraved stubby antennas can do so by signing up here. The more people who sign up the cheaper they are. We'll need a minimum of 10 people to put the price at $24 with shipping.

Steve

I have their even shorter antenna, called the Bullett, which is only 2" long vs. 4" for the stubby, and I haven't noticed a quantifiable change in radio reception. The three stations we listen to in my truck still come in just as before, no better or worse by my ear.

No matter what with a smaller antenna you're getting less signal into your radio front end (much smaller signal capture area).

If I did my math right these super small antennas are somewhere on the order of 1/20th (4") to 1/50th (2") the wavelength of the received signal, which is not very good. The stock antenna is 31.5" long by my measure which means it ranges from 1/3.47th to 1/4.27, which is just where you'd want to be. Quarter, half, full wavelength is preferred, and quarter is usually chosen for practicality as most folks don't appreciate a 110" antenna waving around on the front or back of their vehicle.

I would have sworn that when it comes to antennas it's not length but rather surface area that matters. I'm sure if I took the time to measure the length and width of the OEM and then these 6 inch antennas I would pretty much bet your the surface area is close to the same. Add in the fact that Aluminum is a much better conductor then other metals like steel and I'm betting the reception is better. I have one sent out to a member that I know lives in a very remote area and when I get him the new set screw we'll know for sure how well they work.

Besides I thought everyone had Sirius or XM now.
