10 Things Going Right in America Today

The markets may be in turmoil. The economic outlook is grim. But not all the news is bad.

No. 1: Oil Loses Its Swagger (Prices for home heating oil and natural gas are also headed lower this winter than last.)
No. 2: A Tipping Point For the Auto industry (finally, all the major car makers are furiously developing hybrid and alternative-fuel vehicles)
No. 3: Interest Rates Are Low and Headed Lower
No. 4: Homes Are More Affordable. (Sorry if you're trying to sell)
No. 5: Your Bank Savings Have Never Been Safer
No. 6: Stocks on Sale/Many Bonds Offer Yields
No. 7: Technological Innovation Continues
No. 8: Prosperity Reigns In the Heartland (The fall harvest is shaping up as one of the best ever)
No. 9: A New Tone and Direction in Washington ( I don't know about that one)
No. 10: Great Gift Buys This Holiday Season

Bill sorta like the old question: is the glass half empty or half full? I like your perspective, kind of puts a positive spin on the current condition of the country.

They've been doing a lot of gas frac drilling around here. There were a lot of neighborhoods that were holding out and not signing the release because they wanted more money. When the gas prices were high, neighborhoods could get together and try to get more money from the gas companies. Some managed to get quite a bit of money in the settlement. Others have held out too long because they were greedy. Now that gas prices have fallen, the gas companies are offering less than their initial offering and those people are upset that they missed out on all the money they were offered before.
