Warped rotors

I took my tundra to the dealer and told them that i am getting front end shake and steering wheel shakes at highway speeds when breaking. told them that it sound slike warped rotors.
so they worked on the truck and called me the next day to pick it up.
After looking at what work they did here is what they did.

Front:
( Front rotors out of round. Thick 31.98mm out of round .04mm pads 7.5mm.
Machined front rotors. Rediagnosed. front pulsation ok after machining 31.2mm)

Rear:
(Tech states vehicle has a rear break pulsation.
rear rotors out of round. thickness 17.9mm out of round .03mm
after machining 17.2mm
machined rear rotors. rediagnosed. now OK)

Did i miss something here? is it me or they first of all didnot change to new rotors. 2nd they didnot change the break pads?
how can you machine the rotors and leave same break pads?
If the rotors where warped then pads are uneven?

Break problem started around 12,000 miles it was at 15,600 miles when i took it in for service.

I would call them back and ask why they did it this way... then ask them to find out WHY they wore this way and wore so quickly???

Yeah I emailed my service guy and asked him already hopefuly i get a reply here is what i wrote to him.

Hi I picked up the truck and read the receipt to see what was done.
I have few questions.
First one is as far as I know when the rotors are worped.
Rotors warp from the center out so cutting on the outside is a temp cure for the problem,
and because its thinner and already warped in the center its just a matter of time before it starts again? yes or no?
and also since the rotors where worped- uneven surface how come the break pads where not changed?
if the rotors where worped then the pads are uneven as well.

I don't know..... I have a honda Pilot that had warped rotors and did the same thing when braking and all they did was turn them as well and I wanna say that was at 32k miles and it now has over 90k miles with smooth breaking. Maybe it has something to do with how long they were ridden untrue. Maybe they got pretty wet right after they got really hot so then the brake pads would not have been wearing unevenly with them.

You don't say whether you're still under warranty or not (I assume you are?). If so, IMO, it depends on the wear pattern on the pads... if they are worn fairly evenly and there is a lot of pad remaining, then it should be no problem. If they are not, then they should have replaced the pads. I know with my 04 Titan (and the infamous front rotor warp problems the 04/05's were having), they replaced both the front rotors and pads with all new parts. That said, I think the replaced the front pads because the front rotor was a new design, otherwise I suspect they would have left the old pads on. Still, wouldn't hurt to see if you can get them to put new pads on under warranty.

I've never had much luck machining rotors so thay last.
We usually just replace them. We replace the pads too unless they are very good. For best braking you want the pads and new rotors to "seat" together. Old pads and new rotors don't always.
Toyota must not pay for new rotors . I expect they would replace them, it takes half the time to install both new.

Warped Rotors

I had a 2008 FJ Cruiser with the TRD Large Brake Package. Within the first 9000 miles, went thru 3 sets of defective rotors; before 3rd set replaced by dealer, traded FJ for Tundra Crew Max SR5 08. No problems in first 5000 miles so far.

I believe my rear rotors are beginning to warp as well. There is some vibration when breaking but not too bad yet. I believe the problem stems from the traction control. If I drive 10 miles of gravel my rear rotors are sizzling hot from the traction control kicking in on hills and washboard. I have talked to the service department and others have had the same complaint. I try to leave it in 4X4 or turn off the traction control if I travel loose surface roads.

Wow, that is very significant, if VSC is causing warped rotors, Toyota has got a big problem on their hands. Sounds like a recall is in order.

Rotors and key FOB issues

Went to dealer today results: Cut all 4 rotors r/r pads. Wasn't happy but because dealers are being very careful not to have claims bounced inside I new it was gonna happen. Auto start / key FOB issue they aren't sure I worked on the truck with them but noone has a frequency tester with distance testing (We have one but "I thought that they would have one" I was wrong so we couldn't test if its receiver or key FOBs are defective.) I felt there's a very unlikely posibility that both FOBs are bad. Unit (receiver is obviuosly bad as it intermitantly was giving problems). But turns out its part of the interior fuse box according to shop computer. So next time I'm meeting with factory rep to make a decission (this was a 5hr day already on something we'd make the "call" in our shop!) Real techs make the call and fix the vehicle not call 1-800-Service-REP. But honestly these guys were really cool and let me get in there too, so its probably the service manager calling the shots on claims (there CSI score might have been bad over the previous months who knows) I'll write in if rotors warp again and report results of autostart / lock module.Forgot as my information might not be known here: 07 Tundra 5.7 Dblcb 12k on it. Pulsation started @ 6K. Had dome time increased to 30sc also.
