Bridgestone Duler HT's gone at 14K

Yes, you read that right. The factory Bridgestone Dulers that came on my truck (much to my surprise) were down to 1/32" tread last week at 14,561 miles. I don't drive on teh freeway much and most of my driving is in town on clean paved roads. There was slightly less tred on the outside of the tires, but were rotated twicw by the dealership during routine maintence. I actually wrote a letter to Bridgestone corporate but received a reply 2 days too late. This past Saturday I went to the local Goodyear dealer and traded up for a set of Goodyear Wrangler Silentarmors in the 275, 65 18 size. Originals were 255, 70's. I really like the look of the new rubber and I actually have much less roll in the corners now. I was going to ride the old ones out till December or so, but being in Ohio, was afraid of early snow.

Anyway, has anyone else experienced lower than expected mileage out of the stock Bridgestones?

BTW, Bridgestone did finally reply - stating that the tires were made especially for Toyota, to toyotas specs, and that no mileage waratny existed although if I took my truck to the local Bridgestone dealer they would see what they could to do to help me purchase a new set (of bridgestones of course). The local bridgestone dealer told me the wear was due to a bad alignment problem but my truck wouldn't fit on his alignment rack to verify. Course, the 4 wheel alignment check at Goodyear proved no such alignment issue existed.

Just venting because I wasn't prepared to drop $970 for tires after only 1 year of a 36mo lease. Love Toyota, just not pleased with their decision on tires this time around.

Got the same tires with 10k on the odo. I am down 1/16" from new. did rotate at 5k. You will love the new tires, another member has those and the sway bar and it grips the corners on some hilly, hairpin turns.

I have the same tires on my 08 and have 22,000 mile on them with about 5/32 remaining. I too am disappointed with the treadwear. A lot has do with driving conditions, driving habits, & the vehicle. City driving which requires a lot quick starts to get in and around the traffic is the hardest. I was just in a larger city and found myself really stepping on it to get into the traffic flow. These high power vehicles can burn the tread off. I don't feel that I was abusing the vehicle but I'm sure the quick starts were eating up the tread. I am also seeing the outsides of mine wearing. The road where I live has some intersections that require long hard cornering.

My opinion,
Our Bridgestone tires may meet Toyotas spec's, but I think they are to light duty.

Wrangler Sil Armors, are an excellent fit for our trucks. They have a heavier casing and a "wedged" tread.

See how flat the tread is and how it sharply goes down the sidewall. This gives better stability and more rubber on the road.

One more thing than I'll stop rambling LOL
Part of your Goodyear warranty provides free rotations every 6000 miles. Be sure to take advantage if this and ask them to check your air pressure and you should be good to go.

My front tires (OEM Bridgestones) squealed every time I took a turn. Couldn't really hear it in the truck, but everyone outside the truck heard it. The tires also seemed like passenger tires rather than LT tires. They are sitting the barn now.

I had the Bridgestone Dueller A/T revo, not the stockers, these I bought to replace the OEM Rugged Trails. They only lasted 25,000 km (15,000 miles) and they wouldn't pass safety inspection!!! The only thing I can figure is too soft of a compound.

I had OEM Bridgestone Dueler II A/T on the Titan and got over 60,000 milers out of them. Great Rain/Ice/Snow/Mud behavior for a cheap tire. Changed to the Revo and absolutely hated them. At 20,000 miles the hydroplaning was wicked scary so I swapped back to the Dueler II A/T.

Anyone looking for a a semi aggressive affordable LT tire should seriously check out the Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10. I've got over 20,000 miles on a set of fronts I put on my 1 ton and I'm going to go ahead and get four more before winter. I'm very happy with them. http://www.toyotatundraforum.com/whe...-pictures.html

2 Hankook next to an OEM Bridgestone Dueler II A/t

Mine lasted 25k, kinda poor. JUst got a set 275/65x18 Pirelli Scorpion ATR's. They were rated very high on Tire Rack and I love the P4's I have on my car. None of them are cheap.

I have the Hankook Dynapro's on my 2007 tundra 4x4, and I love the tires. I got the 285x75r18 and my gas milage is still 19.5 to 20.7 on the highway here in Tucson AZ. The tires have 22,000 on them now with 16/32nd on them.
