I've gotten a pm from another forum member that says he has pumped up BFG E rated tire to 50 psi with no problem after resetting the TPMS switch on the dash. So far, it looks like I should have no problem with an E rated tire on this truck with the stock wheels and tpms up to 50 psi. Last edited by 2on2off; 10-22-2009 at 09:36 AM. |

| You could put the sensors in bands (like Ford sensors) and then run the regular high pressure valves in the wheels. Then you know the valves will hold the pressure. The sensor MIGHT still fail, but it won't stop you from cruising down the road.

| I've also heard "dualing it out" as referring to converting to dual exhaust, lol!

| Got my BFG AT KO, 285x65x18, installed Saturday and so far, at 45 psi, everything is working great. I trimmed the skid plate a few inches on each side, to be on the safe side, just because there was only about a 1/4" or less, clearance between the tire and the skid plate. The tires weren't touching but were extremely close. I'll be getting a Line-X spray in liner this afternoon, floor mats and probably some step bars because this truck is pretty high off the ground. The new tires are about 1 1/2" taller and 1/2" wider than the stock Rugged Trail BFG's. I drove the truck 300 miles Saturday and the new tires make the odometer 2.4% off meaning it is showing 2.4% less miles than the actual miles are. I gives a false reading when checking MPG and I figure I will need to add (.4) MPG at each tank full to get an accurate measure of my MPG. With the new tires on my 2010 Double Cab 4x4 automatic with trailering package and 430 rear end gears, driving on the freeway 65-75 MPH with no load, a/c on, tires inflated to 45 psi adjusting for the 2.4% odometer error, I got 16.4 MPG. I checked my odometer with my GPS before and after the new tires so this is my best guess on how to figure MPG with the new set up. On this same section of freeway the best MPG I ever got was in a brand new 2003 Chevy Duramax 2500HD 4x4 automatic. With that setup I got 18.5 MPG but never got that high of MPG ever again. |
