Newbie Question

So I looked in the manual and the tire size I have is P255/70R18. I know the last number means size 18...but the other two #'s I really dont know lol.

What im trying to do is get some rims...but if my tires are 18'' and I want 20'' rims, do i have to get new tires? Im not really familiar with the tires and rims stuff...so can some1 explain to me? (Use simple terms please)

255 is the width in centimeters. 70 is the side wall height as a percentage of the width. 255 X .70 = 178.5 Side wall height is 178.5 centimeters. You cannot put 20" tires on 18"rims. Well, you can but they will be really loose.

^^Right on...And if you want to stay at the same specs as stock even though you are moving to 20's, use the tire calculator to determine what size tire you need to run to remain there.

Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing

The other folks have already explained the tire numbers, but the simple answer to your question is "yes," you would have to get new tires that-one-guy... 18" tires will not fit on 20" rims.

Trust me...
I upgraded to the TRD 22 in steel forged rims from Toyota.

Their awsome, they clean up great, and shine like a mo fo, and on my Black Crew Max they are terrific. I am no pro, but what I learned is the steel forged rims are basically the best rim, strenght wise. And that is what you should be looking for to put on your Tundra.

Remember your not driving a light weight Celica sports car. So when you do hit a pot hole or curb you want strenghth.

In addition, 22 inch rims are the right fit for your Tundra, not undersized like the 20 or 18 inchers.
