Tire pressure??

Hi to all!

Just installed a 2.5 SST leveling kit on my DC 2007. I put 285/65/18 BFG AT's on it as well. Does anybody know the correct air pressure to run in these tires??? The shop that did my alignment said to run 75#. but that seems high to me. Especially since the stock 275's only call for, I think, 30#. Any help would be appreciated. I certainly don't want to ruin the tires considering I spent $1200 for them...friggin ridiculous!!! Thanks in advance!

75 pounds does seem kind of high. I don't know the correct answer because I still have the stock tires, but I'm with you.

Just checked BFG's website. They recommended sticking with what the tire placard says on the truck.

The BFG T/A's are a radically different tire than the light weight P-rated Ragged Trails.
With T/A's you are going to need to run around 45lbs to avoid bad wear. I run mine at 50lbs, and boost it 70lbs when towing or carrying large loads.

Good to know. Why doesn't BFG publish that kind of info?

It is probably on the tire sidewall. It will say something like "max load @ 80psi".

Rone is correct, the T/A's have a max pressure of 80lbs vrs 44 lbs for the Ragged Trails. The T/A's also weigh 13 lbs more than the RT's.
It takes a lot more air pressure to firm up the sidewalls on the T/A's. If you run at what the door sticker says, you will find that your cornering ability will suffer a lot, plus you will see the outside of your tires wear prematurely.
You just have to experiment a little to find the best pressure for the roads you drive.
Another good thing about the T/A's is that you can air down to 20lbs or so on soft sand, dirt etc., without worrying about spinning the tire off the rims or tearing your sidewalls up.
