Tire prices

I've been looking for some 305 65 18's and I have to agree with Tox. These tires aren't no joke when it comes to price. The selection isn't really great either. I would like the bfg at's or something comparable and was just wondering if anyone has some secrets on where to find the best price. Or another tire that is a little cheaper. Thanks

On point, I tell ya I looked for over a month online, locally and everywhere. As "tire pro" said there really isn't that great a deals out there on tires once your add shipping for such a heavy item. I wanted the 35x12.5x18 BFG mud terrains as my Talladega buddy has on his f-150 with a leveling kit, but of course the Tundra has issues about clearence that no other manufacturer has. So, I had to have solid white letters(I liky)on 18 inch stock rim and the BFG all terrain is the only one that is 34 inches high and not over the 12.5 inch wide. So I settled for all terrains instead of Muds (I was very upset, I'v allways had mud tires) but the reality of every day driving is suited for All Terrains.

Sorry for all that, but I finaly found the best local deal, which was better than online and paid.......are you ready $1,284.00 installed.

not cheap, but they are very tough and look damn good if I do say so myself!..........Just look at my avatar.

They make the truck look stought!

I concure on the looks. My wife just can't figure out why the factory tires with 1200miles on them are "defective." I haven't really looked locally yet but the price you paid is close to what I've been seeing on the web. Thanks for the input.

285/65 18's.....what is the closest size in either standard or metric in the BFG AT KO's? And what is the differential with regards to mph, or anyone's personal findings on mpg?

Well, you can convert metric to standard. so, 285 is your section width in millimeters, divied 285 by 25,( 25 milli per inch) that's 11.4 inches wide. Next, 65 is the aspect ratio, which is 65% of the width. 11.4 times .65 is 7.41 inches from the rim to the top of the tire. you multily 7.41 times 2 which is 14.82 inches, because you have the same distance from the bottom of the rim to the bottom of the tire. Then add the rim height to that, 14.82 plus 18 is 32.82 inches or pretty close. So you have about a 33x11.5x18 inch tire in standard form.

I had 255's which were 32x10.2x18 and I went to a 34x12.2x18(BFG 305x65x18)..........with Level lift and 1 inch rear block, and skid plate trimming.......

It's all very simple, really...........

So I could fit 33x10.5 BFG AT KO's on the truck without any modification or trimming then? Or would the 33x12.5's be a better option, or would there be trimming involved?

If you thought the 305/65-18s were expensive, look at the 305/55-20s. Those cost an extra $100 per tire. It uses less rubber.

Less rubber.....of course. But more technology in order to support the same vehicle weight with a lower volume of air.

ooohhh my aching skull. I just go look at a chart!! LOL

I have seem this "lack of avail" or "lack of choice" before and it is when the auto manufactures start changing things. "18 & 20" tires are relatively new in the AT market. It takes the tire manufactures awhile to catch up.
It's hundreds of thousands of dollars to remold for the new sizes so they only do so if demand and profit justify.
I myself am still running the stock Bridgestones because of lack of choice and I can not justify the expense of replacement when I can run these out.
I'm going to wait and see what Goodyear, Mich, & BFG does and then decide.
